EclecticIQ appoints James O’Connor as Chief Technology Officer to drive next phase of product scale and innovation

London/Amsterdam, 13 April, 2026: EclecticIQ, a global leader in cyber threat intelligence technology, has appointed James O’Connor as Chief Technology Officer. Previously serving as VP of Systems Engineering at EclecticIQ, O’Connor will lead the company’s next phase of technical growth, scaling its platform to meet rising demand in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the business. Following a major product transformation over the past two years, EclecticIQ is experiencing strong growth and increased customer demand. The company is now sharpening its focus on scale, efficiency, and technical execution to support continued expansion.

As CTO, O’Connor will lead the engineering organisation with a focus on scaling the platform, improving software efficiency, and accelerating innovation. A key priority will be harnessing AI to strengthen both product capability and operational performance, ensuring customers can keep pace with rapidly evolving cyber threats.

“Every company reaches a point where it needs to shift gears,” said James O’Connor, Chief Technology Officer at EclecticIQ. “We’ve built a strong foundation and transformed our product. Now the focus is on scaling that success, making sure we can grow efficiently and continue to innovate as fast as the threat landscape evolves.”

O’Connor brings deep experience in cybersecurity and software engineering, having started his career during the early days of the internet before working across malware analysis, telecoms, and endpoint protection at organisations including Symantec, Mandiant, and FireEye. His background combines a deep understanding of threat actors with hands-on experience building technologies designed to protect organisations at scale.

His appointment reflects a broader shift in the threat intelligence market. Organisations are facing an overwhelming volume of security data, but often lack the context needed to prioritise what matters most to their specific environment.

“Too much threat intelligence is still generic,” O’Connor added. “What organisations really need is context, the ability to understand what matters to them, in their sector, and in their situation. That’s the difference between reacting to threats and staying ahead of them.”

This challenge is becoming more acute as cyber threats evolve beyond traditional technical attacks. Disinformation campaigns, AI-driven threats, and geopolitical tensions are reshaping the risk landscape, requiring organisations to think beyond tactical indicators and adopt a more strategic approach to intelligence.

EclecticIQ is responding by helping customers move from data overload to focused decision-making. The platform enables organisations to filter, prioritise, and act on the intelligence that is most relevant to their business, supporting better risk management at both operational and executive levels.

Looking ahead, O’Connor sees threat intelligence becoming a core capability across a broader range of organisations, not just governments and large enterprises, but also mid-sized businesses that are increasingly exposed to cyber risk.

“Threat intelligence is no longer just for the largest organisations,” said O’Connor. “We’re seeing it become essential for a much wider group of companies that need to understand what’s happening around them and protect their operations.”

Success in the role will be defined by EclecticIQ’s ability to help customers manage growing volumes of intelligence while staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated attackers.

“Everyone is dealing with too much information,” O’Connor said. “The real challenge is knowing what to focus on. If we can help our customers cut through the noise and act on what truly matters, that’s where we deliver real value.”
